Intriguing. Was just glancing this book by Cavalli-Sforza, a very famous scientist, in which he talked about the human diaspora. South chinese are genetically more related to the various peoples in Indochina, like the Miao and Tai etc, while North chinese are more related with the manchurians, mongols, japanese and koreans...very distinct... so.. the concept of chinese as a race is somewhat geopolitical. I suspect it stems from Qin Shi Huang and his unification of China... i mean, we all acknowledge the fact that a native Beijing'er is very easily discernable from a native Guangzhou'er... hee.. shows the inadequacy of race as a concept.

Caught 4 movies on the flight out: 'Just Like Heaven', 'The Edukators', 'In Her Shoes' and 'The Constant Gardener'. Golly, it's actually very difficult to watch denser films on the plane....coz it's harder to pay attention with the grubby seats and cramped legspace. The lightweight fluff was much easier to watch.
