Juvenile Eucalyptus, originally uploaded by Monty Elm.

I had no idea what this plant was at first. It looked really alien. Round leaves threading through a thin branch, like kebabs. And the grey-green leaves were unusual. Only later realised that they were the juvenile form of a certain common genus here in California - the Eucalyptus. Now, adult eucalyptus have long, narrow, slender drooping leaves (albeit grey-green too), which is a world of difference from these rounded leaves. But i love this dimorphism. Makes me wonder how pretty juvenile eucalyptus will look when bonsai-fied.
