Entrance to the Big Basin Redwoods State Park, home to the coastal redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) - the tallest redwoods. Coastal redwoods are only found hugging along the california pacific coast (from the Oregon border southwards to Monterey bay, off Santa Cruz). There are two other redwood species, Sequoia gigantea (the largest redwoods) is found in the Sierras in California/Nevada. Metasequoia is found in the mountainous regions of South West China and it's the only deciduous redwood among the three.
