Housekeeping chores to do: vacuuming, cleaning, laundry. Grim.
After a week of 'shopping' for classes, as is the usual practice here, i think i've got my study list for the quarter. Sometimes you think you really want to take a class, but when you turn up for it, BAM. It just doesn't feel right.
Biosci 120: General Botany (this is a great class about plant phylogenetics/evolution)
More people should learn about plants. Esp. animal biologists and biomed people. Do not be looking at mouse tumour cells or whatever scary cell lines all the time.
Biosci 133: Genetics of Prokaryotes (this is also an interesting class -for it tackles concepts straight on from prokaryotes, and not muddling things up with eukaryotes)
Biosci 215: Biochemical Evolution (great, this is a hard class. VERY HARD. Have no clue what the first 2 lectures were all about. Feeling doomed, but decide to plod on with it!)
Biosci 342: Plant Biology Seminars (this is easy: attend seminars and write 8-10pg papers on them. HAHA.... basically minimal class time, maximal self-work time).
I'm actually building up a study list that would be useful at O level bio. Probably taking human physiol, ecology and molecular bio in winter and then behavioural bio, plant biochem, plant genetics and biogeography in spring. That should cover my bases quite neatly. YAY!
Had a bad morning cycling with a big, fat foam board in one hand, and trying to balance the bike with the other. Obviously it doesn't work. Had a few near misses. Never try that! Right, time to take photos of my room and apartment. Will do that pretty soon once i pick up my laundry and do up the room a bit.
Still sunny, with no rain in sight. The vegetation is completely parched. Rain is definitely much needed. Soon... the sun is moving southwards (Northern hemisphere winter approaching), the ITCZ will then move southwards, taking with it the high pressure at the 23 degree latitudes, making way for low pressure systems to sweep across california from the north and pacific, bringing winter storms. YAY! I want greenery, not brownery. What's so nice about charred grasses?
