Constancy

I'm glad that some things don't change.
At least within the timeframe where you are involved.

Living 7 terms in Cambridge: you probably can learn a lot, simply by keeping your eyes open and just take a look around you. You'll recognise familiar faces; yet they may not recognise you. Hot dog sellers that have been dispensing hot dogs with relish, Sainsbury's check-out counter ladies offering to pack your groceries, the servers at Pret serving you coffee every morning. 3 years ain't that long, the same people that showed up in your life may still be around, doing the same things for you. They may have left. But you'll know when.

That's what i like about living in a small, provincial town. There's a sense of constancy amidst the change. Big cities are lovely, i admit, but you must admit there's a hint of small-town charm. Of course, you grouch about it, it's lifeless, it's boring. Point taken. But you'll see the beauty of it all when you leave it all behind.

You'll remember wth fondness, the people that made little impressions in your life. They may not be doing great things, like change the course of history. For they will be forgotten with time, like many billions of people that have gone and past. Yet they made me smile. A little happy face deep inside.
