Attended my course consultative committee meeting today. Was interesting, to see student comments being brought forth and discussed. Student comments are valued. Assessment of lecturers and course blah blah. Good process.
Athlete 'Wires' was first played on Steve Lamacq's program on Radio 1 last monday. So at the moment, i'm subsisting on replaying Steve's program again and again online. Well, specifically from time 30:00 to 34:30, when the song is on. Haha... well, the song isn't out till January, so... it's an anthemic hit! Which i think is some sort of trend. Coldplay's first album was quietly dark.. and thoughtful. The 2nd album was much more anthemic, with big stadium hits.. massive. I'm beginning to think Athlete's 2nd album is going along the same lines.. big anthemic hits, after a thoughtful 1st album. It's as though the 1st album has given them the confidence to write big songs. YAY! Really excited about their gig in January too.
Look at the lyrics, it's thoughtful. Coupled with the music. It's anthemic.
Wires
Athlete
You've got wires
Going in
You've got wires
Coming out of your skin
You've got tears
Making tracks
I've got tears
That are scared of the facts
Running down corridors
Through automatic doors
Got to get to you
Got to see this through
I've seen hope is here
In a plastic box
I've seen christmas lights reflect in your eyes
You've got wires going in
You've got wires
Coming out of your skin
There’s dry blood
On your wrist
Your dry blood
On my fingertip
Running down corridors
through automatic doors
got to get to you
got see this through
First night of your life
Curled up on your own
Looking at me now
You will never know
I see it in your eyes
I see it in your eyes
You’ll be alright
I see it in your eyes
I see it in your eyes
You’ll be alright
Alright…..
Running down corridors through automatic doors
Got to get to you
Got to see this through
I see hope is here
In a plastic box
I seen Christmas lights reflect in your eyes
With a tear in your eyes
Running down corridors through automatic doors
Got to get to you
Got to see this through
First night of your life
Curled up on your own
Looking at you now
You would never know
