Was going to post an entry after reading another blog. Stopped. Gave it a thought. And decided to be rational about it. No point ranting on and on.
The point of it was what makes you think you will live past today? People make plans for the future. Let's not talk about tangible plans like going for a holiday in December. Let's talk about intangibles. Mixing with the 'in' crowd, even if it's for a 5 min chat, just in the hope that this 5 min connection would prove to be useful in 10 years? That's an intangible. I wonder why i'm so piqued by this.

Sometimes, young people don't see how they would ever contract a life threatening disease. Some hold the notion that since i will die, why not do all the fun stuff today? Agreed. Just like Tomas in 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' who could only live life once, the choices we make today are permanent life choices. As simple as skipping dinner today to lose weight, is a life choice. Beginning to sound rantish.(I stand guilty as charged) Life isn't always about following the plan.

Humans need to realise something, that there will be a limit to our knowledge. We will never know everything there is to know. We are limited. We are merely creatures of the earth that have a brilliantly developed cerebrum, which incidentally looks absolutely painful to swallow (those reality shows always have mammalian brains, why don't they use reptilian brains? Made up of similar matter, but just not visually revolting).

As usual, the entry is disconnected. I really should enrol myself in Writing 101.

It's a very thoughtful entry. I agree that it's wiser to live for the moment - you never know what will happen the next second, for that matter. It's so clearly seen in your 5-min chat example. Such relationships are simply not enriching, and it gets distasteful especially when certain people call you up not because they enjoy talking to you, but to plan for some sinister hidden agenda that will take place a few years down the road. You should write more on this topic, it's very thought-provoking and worth some dissection. The part about reptilian brains is gross though. They really don't have the sulci and gyri of mammalian brains? Amazing.
